Last week was School Picture Day. During library we decided to get a bit silly and creative and create our own school pictures. Here are a few of our creations. To see more, click here.
I had the opportunity to spend a week in Seoul, Korea. I had such a great experience. I got to meet many Korean people and ate a lot of Korean food. I really liked seeing the palaces and the many street marketplaces. I took one of our library books about South Korea and had my picture taken reading the book in unusual places. Here are some samples.

Ehrich Weiss is the real name of someone very famous. Find out who that is. Then go to Student Activities Page for the next clue. In the past two summers I have attended the Timpanogus Storytelling Festival. It has been quite an enjoyable experience. I am playing with some ways to incorporate storytelling into the library program. Halloween is a good time for storytelling. Stay tuned as this plays out.
Timpanogus Storytelling Festival One of the most crucial library skills is using the catalog to locate a book in the library. Third and fourth graders are getting a lot of practice doing this. Parents could take some time to explore our catalog from home with their kids. Another idea is to compare searches on the Beacon Heights catalog with Salt Lake City Library catalog. This week we started recruiting library helpers. Three to five students from grades 3 and up are selected to become what we are calling BookCats. Each student has a section of the library that they keep in good order. Bookcats also help out with book checkouts and checkins.
